Kyudo a Barcelona / Kyudo in Barcelona

Literally Kyudo means "The way of the bow". It is a japanese martial art which today is practiced everywhere.

Probably it is the martial art with the smallest set of techniques to learn of all of them. Essentially only eight movements are needed to shoot an arrow properly, but those who practice this Art know that we will devote our lives to it and we will come to our end far from being able to perform the perfect shooting.

I will not try to explain what is Kyudo in this post, just let me talk you about the Kyudo that I have been able to feel today when practicing with the people from the Barcelona dojo (club / practice hall).

Kyudo és gent tenint cura d'altra gent.

Kyudo is people taking care of other people. When performing a ceremonial shoting togheter or when setting up the practice hall.

Kyudo is feeling accepted when you are not at home, being invited  to practice and to share your experience with others. Kyudo is listening and being listened to if you talk humble and respectfully.

Kyudo is something beyond mastering your body, your axes, the details, the precision, being able to hit the target consistently. Kyudo is an inner path for growing up infinitely. Many things at Kyudo cannot be taught by any master. Curiously the only master available for the most important and subtle things in Kyudo is oneself.

Kyudo is adopting Kyudo in your ordinary life. Shooting arrows with a huge bow over a paper target is useless, no interest by itself. What will be its value if it was not able to teach you lessons for your day to day?

Kyudo and its lessons are not always nice nor easy. It is hard but not phisically, probably the hardest part of Kyudo is that it forces you to face yourself. There are some setps into your practice that you can only overcome if you accept criticising yourself and improving your intimate limitations.

Kyudo is not hitting always, Kyudo is not missing always the target. Kyudo is trying to hit oneself to grow up.

Kyudo significa restar. No cal fer moltes coses, cada vegada aprenem a fer-ne menys.

Kyudo means subtracting. It is not about doing many things, we progressively learn to do less and less. It is the way of getting rid of everything that affect the flight of the arrow. We remove, muscle tension, little movements that distort, we remove thoughts, desires, we continuously remove... remove... remove.

Kyudo is beauty. The naked movement, the harmony that transmits a body, a bow and an arrow in good coordination, is an expresion of the beauty that is in everyting. The highest demostration from a master does not put him in any "hall of fame". A true master is he who is able to disapear, is a person that works along with naturality and in his or her shooting what shines is not him or herself, but the beauty of the whole natural shooting.

Kyudo is goodness because whoever masters the bow is because has mastered the darkest side of the self. And erevythig that is clean and natural is naturally good.

Kyudo is truth. There is a motto that says " The arrow must hit or not, but never fails". The conscious Kyudo practitioner knows that his or her shooting shows clearly the own weaknesses to others. The shooting, the still target... are silent and severe judges, they speak the truth about you. Probably you do not dare to say directly such things about yourself.

Kyudo is also the cofee break, also the pause for cellebrating our friendship.

Kyudo, as you can see, is also an overripe banana.

Issha Zetsumei... Una fletxa, una vida.

Issha Zetsumei... One arrow, one life.
